Keterangan waktu kejadian nan biasa digunakan dalam pola kalimat simple past tense, contohnya adalah yesterday, last week, a minute ago, in May, dan lainnya.

Simple past tense dibentuk dari kata kerja alias verb kedua alias linking verb, seperti was alias were.

Verb 2 merupakan corak dasar verb (bare infinitive) dengan tambahan -d, -ed, -ied, -en, -t, -n untuk jenis regular verb, alias corak tidak konsisten pada jenis irregular verb.

Contoh regular verb untuk past tense: love>loved, like>liked, enter>entered, call>called, marry>married, play>played, laugh>laughed.
